Electrical engineer joins WFEC staff
West Florida Electric Cooperative is pleased to welcome Keith Varnum to its staff as Manager of Engineering. Varnum brings 15 years experience in distribution engineering, having served the last eight years as Supervisor of Engineering Services at Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative, or CHELCO, headquartered in DeFuniak Springs. Previously, he was WFEC’s Director of Technical and Staff Services.
Varnum has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama and has been a registered professional engineer since 1993. He and his wife, Melissa, have two children – Steven, age 8, and Elizabeth, age 6.
"West Florida Electric is fortunate to be adding such a qualified, knowledgeable individual to our engineering department," said Ty Peel, WFEC Vice President of Engineering and Operations. "He has spent the last several years in a highly progressive environment at our neighboring cooperative and is already familiar with our co-op’s distribution system, as well. He’s certain to significantly contribute to our efforts to provide the best service possible to our member-owners."
