Teaming up for a cure
West Florida Electric Cooperative recently joined other local Touchstone Energy® cooperatives in presenting a $52,500 check to the American Cancer Society. For the third consecutive year, WFEC; CHELCO, of DeFuniak Springs; and Gulf Coast Electric, of Wewahitchka, are regional Premier sponsors of the ACS Relay for Life in northwest Florida. Communities conduct Relay for Life events, the American Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser, in local areas to raise funds for cancer research and education.
In all, WFEC will sponsor six Relays in its service area this year. Touchstone Energy® cooperatives in the Panhandle and south and central Alabama jointly will contribute a total of $265,000 to the ACS Florida and Mid-South Divisions to sponsor 68 Relay events. In conjunction with WFEC’s Premier sponsorship, Co-op employees also have formed teams to participate in designated Relays in WFEC’s service area.
