Veterans' View
The Clifford C. Sims State Veterans Nursing Home in Bay County opened in 2003 and now has 65 patients. It is a 120 bed facility. County Veteran Service Officers from Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, and Washington Counties have formed a 501c (3) organization to foster support of the Home by serving as the central point to solicit and receive donations from individuals and organizations for the purchase of needed items for the Home and its residents.
Named Friends of the Clifford C. Sims State Nursing Home, Inc., the organization is unique in that all of the funds received are committed to the Sims Home and are not divided with any other facility. In 2003, $23,680.32 was contributed to the "Friends".
A major project that began in 2003 and was completed in 2004, was the purchase of patient televisions. The Home now has a television that can be controlled from the patients bed for each of the 120 beds. Donations are appreciated and may be sent to Friends of the Clifford C.
