Funds for Fire-fighting

On behalf of West Florida Electric Cooperative, WFEC Board President John E. Worthington presents checks to six Washington County volunteer fire departments. The check recipients serve the portions of the county within WFEC’s service area, which Worthington represents as District 6 trustee on the Co-op’s board. WFEC supports a variety of worthwhile local causes at the discretion of its board members. Each WFEC trustee may distribute an allotted amount of funding each year. Worthington chose to divide his discretionary funds among the volunteer fire departments that serve rural Washington County because "The Co-op appreciates what you do, the time you put in and the effort you give," he said.
