You might think age 65 is a time to start taking it easy and resting on your laurels. But, upon turning 65 this year, West Florida Electric Cooperative isn’t showing any sign of slowing down. In fact, your cooperative is becoming stronger and more fit than ever by combining up-to-date technologies and services with old-fashioned dependability and affordability. Whether you’re subscribing to wfeca.net dial-up Internet service or buying a backup power generator, you’ll get the same conscientious service we’ve provided our electric consumers for six-and-a-half decades.
So, all you whipper-snappers, are you ready to see what’s new from WFEC?

TownSquare

More than 50 recent participants in WFEC’s first seminars on using our new Web site for, by and about our community have already posted a wealth of valuable information on the site. WFEC’s TownSquare, at allows individuals, businesses, churches and civic groups to quickly and easily upload information to the Internet, free of charge. Users don’t need special technical skills or new software and can modify the content of their information anytime from anywhere.
"This is an excellent service to the community," said Washington County School Board Technical Services Coordinator Donna Pate, who attended a Feb. 1 seminar. "Since only 50 percent of the schools in this area have Web pages, this service will make school-related information available on the Internet."
In fact, because the previous TownSquare seminars generated so much interest, WFEC has scheduled another one at 1:30 p. m. Feb. 28 at the Co-op’s Graceville District office. Call WFEC Member Services Manager Betty Branham at (850)263-3231 or 1-800-342-7400, ext. 1136, for information or registration.
Customer survey
Your two cents’ worth might actually be worth $100. If you didn’t send in a response to WFEC’s customer survey last year, you’ll have another chance in the next week or so. The information you provide will help us tailor our products and services to better meet your needs. Plus, by mailing your completed survey in time to arrive by March 11, you’ll qualify for entry in a drawing for a $100 electric bill credit. The winner will be announced March 18, so complete and mail your survey as soon as possible.
System improvements
Line crews from WFEC’s Bonifay and Graceville Districts recently finished converting all the primary line out of the Co-op’s Pittman substation from 7.2 to 14.4 kilovolts. The work will reduce line loss and improve electric service reliability for about 275 consumers in the area.
