When you’re shopping for a backup power source, power quality should be your primary consideration in choosing which generator to buy, while service should determine where you buy it. Quality power, or "clean" power, is relatively free from harmonic distortion, which can ruin microprocessors that operate appliances and electronics. The higher the percentage of distortion, the greater the danger of destroying voltage-sensitive electrical equipment, such as your computer, stereo, TV, VCR, refrigerator or freezer. Most of these items can withstand up to10 percent harmonic distortion; WFEC’s generators easily meet this clean power requirement, averaging 7 percent, whereas a typical generator can produce harmonic distortion levels averaging more than 40 percent.
Because proper installation is key to safe generator operation, WFEC will install your generator "at cost." In fact, in the interest of safety, we’ll even install a generator you purchased elsewhere; however, the Co-op will not be responsible for damage to voltage-sensitive appliances caused by a generator from another dealer. WFEC’s standard professional installation, whether you bought the unit from the Co-op or someone else, includes labor, a generator battery and materials. If you opt to install the generator yourself, we can furnish the necessary materials, as well.
A two-year warranty covers the parts and labor on WFEC’s generators, and the diodes and capacitors carry a lifetime warranty. Also, WFEC provides emergency replacement service on its generators, so you’ll never be in the dark for long if yours should fail to operate.
With approved credit, you can finance your generator purchase through WFEC or the Energy Conservation Home Improvement Loan Program. For your convenience, we can include the monthly charge on your electric bill.
