Stained Glass Window Cookies
3½ cups flour
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking powder
2 sticks butter, softened
1¼ cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
32 hard candies (cherry Lifesavers)
Beat butter and eggs ’til fluffy (about 2 minutes). Beat in vanilla and dry ingredients. Divide dough in half. Shape into disks. Wrap in plastic and chill 30 minutes. Roll dough to 3/8". Use a large round dough cutter to cut cookies. Use a small heart and round cutter to cut out center. Fill in the center with hard candy (1½ Lifesaver per center). Bake at 375°F for 10 to 13 minutes on lower rack.
